The upcoming IPL matches in Guwahati promise to be more than just a cricketing event for fans, as Rajasthan Royals (RR) prepare to play their ‘home’ games in this edition at the Assam Cricket Association (ACA) Stadium. Alongside the exciting cricket matches, fans can expect to be treated to high-quality entertainment throughout the day.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Joint Secretary, Devajit Saikia, expressed that the focus remains on cricket, but the fans can also look forward to some great entertainment on match day. A spectacular laser show, a first-of-its-kind, will be presented between the innings of both matches. The ACA has planned the grandest laser show ever seen in the entire North East, which is sure to be a visual delight for fans.
Before the start of the game on both days, cultural shows are planned to entertain the crowd. The ACA has arranged for a mix of folk dances and live bands for the fans. The folk dances of Assam and Rajasthan will be performed, while different local bands and singers will also be performing. Saikia explained that the ACA is promoting local artists so that they can get a bigger platform. However, these cultural shows must conclude 50 minutes before the start of play.
Live performances were a common feature in most IPL matches previously. However, these had been curtailed since the COVID-19 pandemic. Now, the ACA is bringing back the entertainment component to the IPL matches through cultural shows and live performances.
Ranjit Barthakur, RR Executive Chairman, expressed his delight in the ACA bringing back the entertainment component to the IPL matches. He said, “We are glad that the ACA is bringing back the entertainment component to the IPL matches through this.”
In other news, both the RR and Punjab Kings teams have reached Guwahati to prepare for their match on April 5. The upcoming IPL matches in Guwahati promise to be a great treat for cricket fans and everyone who loves a good show.
